Miss. Wildlife Federation Katfishn' Kids, June 2006

Left to Right above, past President Albert Wood and current President Bickham Forshee volunteered for the Mississippi Wildlife Federation's Katfishn' Kids event at Turcotte Labs. Yours truly, Glen Davis was there along with Tommy Shropshire, John Tindall and Tom Holman. Our job was to help the kids catch fish and that is what we did, though it meant humbling ourselves to Zebco's and cold worms (bait!). But hey, we had a good time and almost too good a time, I scolded Bickham more than once to let the child land the fish, reciprocating, Bickham said that he thought I was watching the big yellow commie bobber more closely than a steely-eyed flyfisherman should be able to. But hey, fishing is contagious, and you have to start somewhere. I know I was using a Zebco 202 as a little fellow before I ever knew what a flyrod was. It was great fun helping those kids catch fish and not without excitement. When you have a couple of lines thrown over each other with a couple of big catfish on, all the while dodging #2 hooks being cast by six year olds, there's no way you can be bored!
